Sidetrip is a New Zealand peer-to-peer marketplace for sharing car trips and sending parcels. Drivers list journeys they're already making; passengers and senders book a seat or parcel space along the way.

Download Sidetrip, create an account, and add your details. To offer rides, verify your driver licence in your profile. Then search for a trip, or publish one of your own — it takes seconds.

When a driver starts a trip, the passenger pays and the money is held securely — not released to the driver until the trip is marked complete. This protects both sides. Sidetrip keeps a 10% platform fee; the rest goes to the driver.

Drivers are licence-verified, profiles show reviews and star ratings, and all communication happens through in-app messaging — phone numbers are never shared between passengers and drivers. Payments are handled securely by Stripe.

It's free to join and list trips. Sidetrip charges a 10% platform fee on completed trips, deducted automatically when payment is released to the driver.
